As mentioned in an earlier post, I recently acquired this tray making kit from JohnToftBasketry.

This past weekend, as promised, I got to work on it.  I have always had a love for baskets. I’m not sure why, they are just so useful for so many things. I collected lots of baskets while working at a craft store many years ago – we sold tons of ready made baskets for craft projects… gift baskets and what not. But, we did not sell basket making supplies or even books on the subject. Which, looking back now is kind of odd.

Anyway, so I followed the perfectly laid out instructions that came along with the kit. Everything you need is in there. John also offers some very helpful tutorials on his blog complete with pictures, which is what I referred to most. I seem to do better with photos.

So… here it is. My very first attempt at basket (tray) making!!

I think it turned out very well. And it was so much fun to make!
