This is a great, extremely useful free online tool for creating color schemes. There are many, many ways to configure your preferences and I’ve been playing with it for a few days. It’s kind of a time suck. But, that’s ok!

Can see it being handy for many different applications. Check it out!

I love pickles.

I’ve never made them myself, but I’ve always wanted to.

So, when I found this super simple recipe for Freezer Pickles over at Everybody Likes Sandwiches, I had to try it!

Aren’t they pretty? and Mmmm.

Mine don’t have peppers, I just didn’t have any on hand. They are so delicious!

Glass Jar Photo Frames

I can’t throw anything away. Especially jars. Glass jars. It just seems such a waste to buy something, use up the contents and then throw out a perfectly good jar. So I hoard them. And I use them, of course. For storing anything from craft supplies to baking ingredients. I have a lot of jars.

And when I saw this rad tutorial on Rikki’s Blog, I knew I had to give it a go.

So simple and practical.

Here are mine…

I have them on the windowsill at the top of the stairs. The light shines through and it’s a nice pop of colour. Even the husband approves! I love them.

You should make some, too.

My husband and I are NOT gardeners. I mean, we try, but the green thumb thing does not come naturally to us. But, that hasn’t stopped us.

Look what we did. From a seed! a seed!!

this was our sunflower yesterday, reaching for the sun, but the sun was nowhere to be found.

and this is it today.

I’m so proud of us. My mom would be, too.

And it’s massive. The biggest thing we’ve ever grown. It’s at least a foot higher than our fence and the fence is about 6 feet.

I’m sure some people will read this and think, “wow, you grew a flower”. Well, yes, yes we did. A giant, healthy sunflower.

I can’t stop looking at it through the window. There’s about 4 others on there, too, waiting to bloom.

Now I can check that off my “things to do before you’re 30 31″ list.

oh! we’re also growing something mysterious out of our door mat. 0.o What the heck is that?!

seriously, what is it? I guess that happens when you have a lot of rain? I’ve never seen such a thing.
