Process

I thought I’d give you a little peak at my process. This time creating one of my Geode Slice Necklaces.

I start by cutting a rough, free-form shape from sheet metal. I’m using snips instead of a saw for these.

Then I, of course, file, polish and usually hammer some texture into the piece.

Next, I pierce the metal so that I can weave into it. This is the first couple of rows done.

A few more rows added.

And finally, I make a clasp, attach the chain and voila! The finished piece!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little peak.

You can find this Blues Geode Slice Necklace now listed in the shop!

My creative space…

I got some clay to play with recently. So, I made a couple beads, a little bird with some eggs and a leaf trinket dish. Just need to sand them some more, paint them and finish them.

little clothespin project

I acquired  these sweet vintage embroidered wall hangings a while ago from the vintageholic frog.

When they arrived, the packages were wrapped with some strips of old vintage wallpaper and I loved them almost as much as what was in the packages. So, I hoarded them, as I do.

I recently used them to make some cute little magnetic clothespins for use in my studio.

I heart them.

It was such a simple little project, too. I can’t seem to stop making them.

This is not a tutorial, because it’s so easy! You just cut the strips to fit, avoiding the hinge areas, mod podge, then attach magnetic strip to the backs, again avoiding the hinge area. Simples.

Etsy Ireland Team ATC Swap

A few weeks ago, ViviBijoux, a fellow member on the Etsy Ireland Team announced an ATC swap for us all to participate in.  I have never done ATCs before, but I’m always open to new crafty things so I signed up.

I was partnered with Fi of patchworkdelights who told me that she liked red, silver and gold… and beads.

BEADS!

Before that info was revealed, I admit, I was a little lost with where to start. But, beads… beads I have.

So…

I opted for a bit of bead embroidery for my card. I chose a sort of summer theme and went with the colours Fi was keen on.

This is the result…

I’m quite pleased with it!   I also made her a little pair of coordinating earrings. I hope she likes them!

The rest of the entries will be posted on Saturday on the team blog so do check back to see what everyone else was up to. I can’t wait to see all the craftiness!

Collecting Nature: The beach

As I spoke briefly about in my last post, I picked up all sorts of treasures on our trip to the beach the other day.

These are a few of my favourites…
