Handmade Christmas

Christmas in our house involves a lot of handmade items. So, when the husband asked if he could use some of our plain glass ornaments to make some super special  colour changing LED ornaments, I said, “hells yeah!”.

It’s not easy to get a photo of something that changes colour.

Well, I suppose we could have just videotaped it. But, we didn’t.

My husband is cooler than yours. :)

Whew! Christmas is over!

I didn’t realize it had been so long since I’ve posted here. Been pretty busy I guess and I must admit, I am extremely relieved that Christmas is over. Hope you all had a nice one at any rate. :)

One of the best things that I received was a voucher for Dawanda from my lovely husband. He did good.

I spent most of it (yes, I’ve spent the whole thing already) on supplies, but I also picked up this cute little item for my desk in my newly created “craft room”. Check it out.

Upcycling!

Upcycling has become very poplular recently. With all the concern over the environment and being “green”. I’ve always tried to repurpose things as opposed to throwing them out. I was just brought up that way, you weren’t to waste anything! I recycle, reuse, etc.

Anyway, I had hubby bring home a selection of washers from work and was immediately inspired by their shapes.

Those first ones seem to tarnish very easily, so those were out. The second ones I have used but they’re quite heavy – too heavy to be earrings I think, but might make a nice necklace pendant. The third one here I loved. It has great grooves in it. I have a lot of coloured craft wire laying around and beads, of course. So, I simply wrapped and beaded and made, what I think are pretty cute, little wreath like earrings.

The grooves in the washer make the beads sit perfectly into place. They were quite fun to make, actually. They remind me of Christmas and I think they’d be great for the upcoming holidays.

And as usual they are available to purchase in my Dawanda Shop. :)
