Hearts for Haiti

Hearts for Haiti is an Etsy shop set up by several enthusiastic Etsy sellers to raise funds for the Haiti disaster relief. Shop items have been generously donated by hundreds of Etsy shop owners and 100% of the proceeds from this shop (minus Etsy fees and Paypal fees) go directly to DoctorsWithoutBorders (http://doctorswithoutborders.org ).

The shop was set up on January 14, 2 days after the disaster, and since then has had over 220 sales and raised over $2,500. And those numbers are increasing at a very quick rate.

It’s so inspiring to see everyone in the handmade community come together for a greater good.

I was in Etsy chat today, as I often am , and in came this lovely lady who calls herself Sundancer. I’m not sure how the topic came up, but I saw her mention donations and the Susan G. Komen foundation. That was all I needed to hear. I butted into her conversation to inquire about how I might be able to help. A convo later and I’m proud to say I will be donating to her cause.

She is raising funds to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk in Seattle. If you are an artist and would like to donate a piece of artwork to their 3rd Annual Heart at Work Auction to be held at the beginning of August, please contact her at traci@bigforkbaycottonco.com.

I can’t always afford to donate money, but I have a surplus of items that I can part with. And as Traci (Sundancer) so beautifully put it, “Why? Because everyone does deserve a lifetime.”

Do something wonderful this holiday season.

Hope for Jasenn is a fundraising shop to help Jasenn and his family in their fight against kidney cancer. The shop will be open through December 15th at midnight, then will close briefly for the holidays (so that hopefully all packages will arrive on time) and reopen Jan 2. It is run by Linda, Jasenns sister in law and 100% of the profits from every item sold in this shop will be donated to Jasenn, Ann and their son Tegue to help with their everyday expenses. All of the items in this shop have been donated by generous crafters and friends.

Beading For The Cure

I heard about this via bead-space.com. I think we can all agree that it’s a great cause and I am all over it! I happen to have some assorted pink lampwork beads hanging around that I just didn’t know what to do with. I do now! (pink is not a prerequisite by the way, just thought it was fitting.)
